Leamington Music Concert: Coventry and Warwickshire Youth Orchestra
The Arts Society uses some of its Gift Aid from subscriptions to support other Arts events.
The first concert we’re sponsoring in 2020 is the Coventry and Warwickshire Youth Orchestra Spring Concert. This will take place at 7.00 pm on Sunday 15th March at All Saints Church, Priory Terrace, Leamington Spa CV31 1AA.
This will be an exciting occasion for the youth orchestra as it will be a rare opportunity for the young musicians to play side-by-side with the professional players of the Orchestra da Camera.
The programme will include Elgar’s Cello Concerto and Beethoven’s 5th Symphony.
Tickets will be on sale on the door and are £10, but members of The Arts Society will pay £6.
These days, tickets are not printed – so all members need to do is to say at the door that you are from The Arts Society (showing your membership card would probably help) and you will be automatically given the concessionary rate. All seats are unreserved and not numbered.
In 2019, among other things, we sponsored two concerts.
The first, in January 2019, was the famous Carducci Quartet. The programme was very varied covering Mozart, Glass and Shostakovich.
The second, in February 2019, was the Coventry and Warwickshire Youth Orchestra. The programme included the Saint-Saens Cello Concerto and Dvorak’s Symphony No. 5.
In October 2019, we sponsored a concert by Curzon Brass.
The next biennial dinner will be held at Leamington and County Golf Club on Tuesday 16th June 2020. Tickets for the dinner, priced at £45 per head, will be on sale before the April and May lectures. Lounge suit dress code please.
