What we offer

With inspiring monthly lectures given by top experts in their field, together with special interest days, day visits and cultural holidays both at home and abroad, joining The Arts Society is a great way to be entertained, to learn, have fun and make new and lasting friendships.

Members are very welcome to bring guests to a lecture and for full details, just scroll down, and click the ‘join us’ section.

You might also like to volunteer to help conserve and preserve our artistic heritage. We offer opportunities to learn new skills, meet people with similar interests and support the arts within our local community. We also support a number of local and regional artistic projects and activities.

Wednesday 4th September 2024 – Donatello: Renaissance Genius

Speaker: Paula Nuttall

Donatello is one of the artistic giants of the Italian Renaissance. Arguably the greatest sculptor of all time, working in a range of media, he pioneered the new style of sculpture that emerged in Florence around 1400.

Paula is a specialist in Italian and Northern European Renaissance art and has published widely, she has collaborated on major international exhibitions, and lecturers at both the Courtauld Institute and the British Institute of Florence.

DAY OF SPECIAL INTEREST – Friday 18th October 2024

Sport & Play – the ethos, architecture and artefacts of the British at play. 

The next Day of Special Interest will have three lectures on "Sport and Play – the ethos, architecture and artefacts of the British at play."

It will be held at The Warwickshire Country Club, Leek Wootton, CV35 7QT

As usual, there will be two lectures in the morning, then two course lunch with wine and coffee/tea and the third lecture in the afternoon.

The presenter will be Simon Inglis who studied History and History of Architecture.  He specialises in the history, heritage and architecture of sport and recreation. 

Tickets will be available from 1st August 2024.
