Special Interest Day, West Midlands Area – “Two Wrekin Gems” – July 2018

The Summer Special Interest Day, on Thursday 19th July 2018 – ‘Two Wrekin Gems’ – will take a different format to enable members to appreciate two of the Treasures in the Wrekin area. In the morning the lecturer will be Tobias Capwell, an Arts Society lecturer. The venue will be Tong Parish Hall (for coffee and lunch) and Tong Church which is well known for its collection of Medieval tombs.

Transferring after lunch to Weston Park, which is only a short distance away, Gareth Williams, Curator and Head of Learning, will give a talk on Chippendale’s Workshop – 2018 is the Tercentenary of his birth. There will be guided tours of the House before enjoying an afternoon cream tea.

Members will also have the opportunity to visit the Granary Gallery to see the Daimler Art Collection featuring work by German photographer Dieter Blum as well as exploring the formal garden and grounds. The park is open until 6pm.

Numbers are limited, so early booking is essential.
